Id like to hear from Others that has a PFO or PFO/ASD Closure.

What Medication were you on before your procedure.
Also what were you on after your Procedure?  For how long?

(Aspirin, Plavix, etc)

Thanks,

I was on Coumadin and aspirin [81mgs] before my procedure due to the TIA I had. Right before the procedure I transitioned to Plavix and 325 mgs of Aspirin. After the procedure I developed non stop PACs so I was put on 50 mgs of Toprol along with the Plavix and aspirin. My PACs finally went away after 4 months so I am now off of the Toprol but my closure is not complete yet so I am still on the Plavix and aspirin. I am at my 6 month mark and will be on the Plavix until the closure is complete.

Thanks CatMom5. Wow- you have been on a variety of Meds.
Hope that at your Next Test your PFO has closed completely!

Hi All,
I am new to this site. My main reason for coming to this forum was to try to get in touch with others who had this PFO closure. I had a stroke in February 2006 and the closure in March 2006. I got a check up less than 6months later and haven't seen the doctor who did the procedure since. I think it was because I didn't have good insurance, but I had no complications.
I am fine just seeing my internal medicine doctor. I was on bloodthinner(Aggrenox) after my stroke and am only on Atenolol 25mg and take baby aspirin now. I am mainly worried about going through pregnancy in the coming years. I am 29 and unmarried but with the right guy for 5 yrs now, so children are definitely in the picture for our future. I am guessing before I get pregnant I'll get a TEE, regular Echo and Doppler to check for loose ends or flaps;) in my heart. Anyone out there with experience-I'd appreciate information.

thank you,
D
