I am at my wits end. I don't know what else to do, and I feel very helpless at this point. Pls read this post and tell me what you think.

I am 26 years old, female, mom of 1.

Symptoms: Chest tightness, chest pain (radiating to the left shoulder and back) palpitations, syncope

Tests done: Countless EKGs and chest X-Rays, Echocardiogram with treadmill (stress echo), blood test for thyroid, etc

Tests results: All OK

Diagnosed with: Anxiety disorder

Medicines I am currently on: Fluoxetine (Prozac) 20mg every morning, Xanax when neccessary

New symptoms: Constant chest tightness and pain since this morning, frequent yawning since a couple of days back

I went to the hospital ER a month ago for the same symptoms but they couldn't find anything wrong. Fyi, I have been to the hospital MANY times for the same symptoms but were usually dismissed as:

- gas

- musculoskeletal pain

- chest wall pain

- anxiety

- asthma

Many months back, a blood test at the hospital showed I was mycoplasma positive, so they put me on antibiotics and I was told that mycoplasma pneumonia could have caused my chest pain. After I finished all the medicines and spent many days resting at home, my chest pain still came and went.

I have a history of asthma but I KNOW when it is my asthma acting up, and it is not asthma.

They also suspected acid reflux/gerd but later test results were normal.

Medicines such as painkillers, muscle relaxants, antacids, YOU NAME IT - don't work on me anymore.

I have been in pain since I woke up this mornin, and the tightness on my chest is becoming almost too much to bear. I am now at work in the office but I cannot concentrate on doing ANY work. EVERYTIME I go see the doctor, they will tell me they can't FIND anything wrong with me. It sucks to be in pain and having the doctor tell you to just go home and rest. EVERY TIME!

It seems that nobody will take these symptoms seriously because they are just symptoms, will they only do something if I am having a full blown heart attack?

This is getting EXTREMELY frustrating.

I don't know what else to do. Pls help me!!

Just to add, I am slim(average to below average weight) with blood pressure that is usually on the low side, and slightly high bad cholesterol level.

History of heart disease on my father's side. Father passed away from heart disease at 57.

And I have read that constant yawning can be caused by lack of oxygen OR anti-depressants in the SSRI class, so I don't know if it's anything serious or just a side effect frm my prozac.

Also, I have been getting sufficient sleep, rest, food and water.

Hi Pinks-

I know the feeling well!  You know what YOU are feeling---yet..the tests say everything is OK-

For now--you should feel...at least a bit reassured!  BUT--for YOUR peace of mind seeing another Dr. won't hurt!

Hope you';re doing better today--Regards--Wotan--Robert wink

Hello all...

Thanks for your replies.

I felt better for a while, but for the past few days I've been having these nagging chest pains again, mostly on the left side - under and around my breast, and sometimes closer to the centre.

It's a tight feeling, and NOT brought on my stress or exertion.

It's almost THAT time of the month, and I wonder if hormones have something to do with it.

I'm lost.

I'm tired of going to doctors, explain everything to them over and over, and have them tell me it's nothing when I don't feel like it's nothing.

Hi pinks...read your post & just curious,,,have you had a heart cath yet? Sounds like you may be trying to block up in your arteries.... the tests you mentioned would not pick that up
