Just started the Ornish diet to try to reverse my heart disease.  Anyone else on this and had success?  Supposedly my MIL reversed hers after a year and a half.

It's fairly difficult to maintain thus far, but diet isn't my issue.

STRESS IS.   cry  I think that is why I ended up with two stents at 38...

If anyone has some ideas about this program or other ways to manage stress, please let me know.  I'm my own worst enemy.  Thanks for the support in advance.

Genetics may be the issue, but I beat my father with two stents.  He got his at 65.  Diet is not the issue, nor is cholesterol.  Never had high cholesterol.  Never smoked a day in my life.  Diet was a low fat, low cholesterol diet before this, but the difficulty with Ornish is the need for fresh non-prepared foods.  It's hard to do.  I realize I must make this life change and am willing to do so for myself and family.

Thank you for the other resources.   I will take a look.

Selmer,

Thanks for the input.  My total cholesterol is under 100 (88) and always has been to my knowledge.  My diet has been under 30% from fat, usually less.  I am not overweight (105 lbs.) and have never smoked.  Goes to show you what "clean living" gets you.

I am going to stick with the diet and have no plans to go off.  I'd like to see my son grow up and be able to hopefully see my grandkids.  I've done it for one month so far and am looking forward to my upcoming stress test to see if there's any difference from the others.

I am debating quitting work because between the stress and lack of time to do the rest the program requires (meditation, exercise, etc.), I am feeling overwhelmed.
