For the past few months I have been eating a few cloves of crushed garlic a day for overall health benefits. At first I ate it raw,, then I read that you should crush it and wait for 15 minutes for allicin to form, then eat it. Today though I read that allicin is destroyd by stomach acid, so that if you eat it raw, the majority of it is lost. Yet these claims seem to be made by companies selling coated garlic pills; obviously it's in their interest to get people buying their pills not buying it raw from stores.
Does anyone know the *real* truth behind all this?
