My gran is aged 83 and for last 18 months has been on beta-blockers for a valve which is closing in her heart. Her doc is now talking bout surgery to 'keep this valve open'. Some questions,
1) Is 83 too old for such surgery?
2) What are her chances of surviving it?
3) Whats her long term prognosis with / without the surgery.
Thanks for your time in reading this. I am much obliged.

Your concerns are valid, however, they really should be addressed to her physician.   Only her physician knows her general health and can give you a prognosis.
