Ok guys, help me out here. I had my PFO closed on friday. It was 1cm large and closed with a Gore-Helex. After talking about my excessive weight gain, my surgeon told me I could start RUNNING again. it hasn't even been a week. Not only that, but he told me that I will not be coming back for an echo for 6months!!! What???? So far from what I have read, the standard is 1 month bubble study, 3month and 6month. I feel like I'm going crazy here. Has any one else had this sort of advice?? I told him I thought running was a bit premature and he said, "well, maybe another week. But go for a swim or something." He said I have absolutely no restrictions. I don't know what to do. I'm thinking I will make an appt. with my regular cardio (who is in the same practice) and ask her opinion.

My Cardio who was also my surgeon said I had no restrictions.  I went back to my normal slow workouts within a week.  But they are light workouts.  I lift & do light cardio.
My 1st Post bubble was supposed to be at 4 months.  But I made it for 3.5 months because I wasnt going to wait to see if it was closed at 4 months ( I have another surgery I have to have-that was waiting for those results- well now I have 2 more surgeries I have to have)
I was very disappointed my Dr would not do a Bubble at 1 month.
I would talk to your regular Cardio & get her Opinion too.
Let us know what she says.
