im 25 yrs old and i live on my own...my uncle who hasnt seen me the last 3 years visited me last week and he couldnt recognise me...he told that i have put on very much weight and unfortunately he is right,i think im obese...we discussed this and told him that the last 2 months i have some severe pains on the left side of my chest that lasts about an hour...also, sometimes i experience sudden shortness of breath...he took my bp readings and i have to say that they are a bit high(160/110)and then again after 3 minutes it was almost the same...he proposed to visit a cardiologist because maybe there's something wrong with my heart...im really scared...should i? please i need an immediate answer...

not a professional but your heart rate should be as close to 115/75 so for being so young it is VERY high not just a bit high! I would see a doctor asap. they are probably going to suggest you lose weight. Good luck and keep in touch! Ps eat lot of friut veggies beans whole grains and lean proteins!

Hello Shady,

Welcome to HealingWell and the Heart & Cardiovascular Disease forum.

I am very glad to hear you did see a cardiologist and that some tests have been ordered. Would you like to share which tests the Doctor has ordered for you?  Also were you started on any medication for your increased BP?

Do stick with us and know that we care.

Again a warm welcome,

Kitt
