Welcome to HealingWell and the Heart and Cardiovascular Disease Forum.
Learning that you have a hole in your heart is understandably worrisome. Although present in about one in five adults, PFOs usually cause no symptoms at all. Far less than 1 percent has a stroke or other outcome that results in the need to have the PFO closed.
Occasionally, patients may experience episodes of shortness of breath and cyanosis. I hope you will follow up with your cardiologist if you are having concerns re your tests and do ask questions, advocate for yourself as this is important to you.
I hope other members who have PFO will post to your questions.
Blessings and again a warm welcome,
