This is my first ever forum post so bear with me!

I'm in Scotland, have got home last night from a two day stay in hospital where I was 'kindof' told I had viral pericarditis however my discharge letter said that heart attack, clots and pericarditis was ruled out. My bloods were all normal, my ECG (EKG) was normal. I feel a bit worried that I still have a heavy feel in my chest where my heart is, with chest pain and constriction across chest and a pain going into my shoulder at times. I didn't have a temperature and apart from the pain felt fine. I have had very recent treatment for iron deficiency anaemia so was breathless anyway but no more breathless than before. It sounds like I have this viral pericarditis from reading this forum and looking up symptoms on the internet but obviously mild in comparison to some.

I guess I feel a bit of a fool that I've been sent home saying keep taking the painkillers but theres nothing wrong with you and the pain will settle after a week or two.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Does it take a few experiences of the pain before a diagnosis can be made?

Hello and welcome to HealingWell. I am so glad you found us as we are here to help and support.

I suspect you will be hearing from some of the members re your questions and concerns.

Please don't feel like a "bit of a fool"..............you are a human being and we all have experiences in our lives similiar to yours. It is always better to error on the side of safety with any chest pain then to assume it is nothing unless proven otherwise.

Again a warm welcome,

Kitt
