My question is, can heart doctors prescribe anxiety meds for their heart patients? My husbands heart doctor acts like he can't do it. My hubby is possibly facing a heart bypass, and he's scared. He had one 14 years ago, so he knows what to expect. Any advice will be appreciated.

Potsie,

Hello and yes a cardiologist can prescribe anxiety meds if they choose too. Any medical doctor can prescribe prescription medications. Some don't like to prescribe medications they are not familiar with.

Take care,

I got a script from my GP for anxiety following being told I had a aortic aneurysm. You could ask to speak to the nurse at the cardiology office or go to your family doctor. Explain the situation they really should understand.

Good luck to both of you. :-)
