Hello my name is Valerie you can call me Val. Have a few questions about PFO closures. I  had one done on June 17.  I wonder if anyone else has experienced some of the same symptoms. I do not have any other medical issues. Have good blood pressure, was very active b4 this closure, what lead me to this PFO was that I had a TIA on  May 29, 2010 around 9 a. m. never can forget it, it was the scariest thing I have experienced.  Only lasted a few minutes.
I lost feeling in my right arm, thought I was talking, my son told me I was not forming words. I did, (when I was coming out of it )hear myself talking slurrish. It was very scary, my brain knew right away something was not right, it was as if I heard it tell me something is not right, immediately I called my sons name,  he heard me, but that is all the sense I made for a couple minutes, of course he called 911. When the ambulance arrived I had already come out of it, I went to the hospital anyway, was there for four days.  I had many tests, a TCD by a nuerologist is what found the pfo, the cardiologist did a TEE  a couple hours later and said he saw nothing.  Sooo I went home that day, the nuerologist called two days later and told me he was referring me to a super specialist in Chicago. I went and he spotted bubbles right away in the same test the other cardiologist did not spot the bubbles in.  So we set a date for a PFO closure, my insurance company was awesome.  Since then have been to ER once, which was Tuesday, 6th, of July, 2010. They found nothing , which is good, but two days later similiar symptoms, light headed, kind of feeling like maybe I wanted to faint.  This is my question, did anyone feel these same things after PFO closure? Sorry, if this is hard to understand. Any information is helpful. I forgot to mention, yes I am on plavix and aspirin.

Thanx,
Val

I am a 31-year old healthy female. I am scheduled for a closure on the 27th of July. I have a PFO and ASD and a Blood Clotting disorder. I have suffered from hemipaligic migrains/seizures for 20 years. I am praying that this procedure goes smoothly. I have to admit reading some of these forums makes me increasingly nervous. Would love to read some success stories out there. I truly feel that my risk of major stroke is greater then complications with this procedure....looking for some encouragement.

I am very active and teacher 8 Zumba classes a week....I planned on taking 6 weeks off...i wonder if this is not enough.

Any encouragement at this point would be great. I got tomorrow for my pre-op EKG and blood work.

Thanks!
