51 yr old male, 170 pounds, 5'9" tall  take Diovan for boderline hi blood pressure, take statin for border line hi choestresol other wise good health.

I have been biking since July 1st about 20 miles a day for 6 days a week. The last week or so when I start out for about 10 minutes I have a pain in the center of my chest, not a cruching pain or pressure pain just a pain. It goes away after about 10 minutes.

I went to my GP the other day about it. He said " dont think its a cardiac problem" Listened to my heart, did EKG, all normal to him. He feels its muscular, he said it wouldnt go away when I still keep riding if it was my heart.

I have had an echo and other ekgs due to PVC's a few years back. I quit caffiene and the pvcs quit..

I ran 3 miles on a Nordiac track yesterday with no problems... Im concerned still. I have no other symptoms, no shortness of breath etc

Hello and welcome,  If you fear something is going on and it is not muscle pain do seek out a second opinion to be on the safe side.  It is always wise to be proactive.

I just wondered if angina or heart ever hurt in one specfic spot the size of a dime in the middle of your chest then quit hurting after 10 minutes even though you continue to excersise ?

Also its not a crushing pressure like pain and no shortness of breath ??

Everyone's angina can feel different to them.  Most people will describe angina as feeling a pressing or squeezing pain, usually in the chest under the breast bone, but sometimes in the shoulders, arms, neck, jaws, or back.

Have you had any further episodes ?

Yes. It happens everytime I ride my bike which is everyday. Usually about 10 mins into the ride and usualy last for 15 minutes then is gone and I can ride another 1/2 hour with no pain. Sometimes it does last thru the whole ride.

I dont notice it when I run on the tread mill even though my heart rate is still 140.

I have no other symptoms, no shortness of breath, never tired, and never happens when not biking. Again I biked like crazy for the last 2 months with ZERO problems, this just started the last 2 weeks after I dropped 25 pounds !  I was better when I was fatter, lol

My GP seems to not think its heart due to I an pinpoint the spot where the pain is and no other symptoms and it goes away sometimes and only happens when biking, I hope to heck he is correct but im scared to death ( pardon the pun ) Even after getting off the bike there is a slight discomfort in the area most of the day, like a pulled muscle feeling.

Best way I can describe it is this, sometimes if I wolf down alot of bread or pretzles without chewing real good I get the same type pain in my chest . I do have a hiatial hernia but again why is this just becoming an issue.

If it was heart related wouldnt there be more symptoms or wouldnt it hurt when running or playing basketball etc ??
