Hello and welcome to HealingWell,

I am sorry I just got to your question now.  I hope the stress echo went well and that you will share with us the findings.

Nitroglycerin belongs to a class of drugs known as nitrates. Angina occurs when the heart muscle is not getting enough blood. This drug works by relaxing and widening blood vessels so blood can flow more easily to the heart. Your Dr. should have discussed this medication with you in detail and explained why he was prescribing it. I do hope you have talked with him about his reasoning in choosing this medication for you.

If he handed you a book re angina he should have explained to you that he feels you have angina and what that conclusion is based on.  I am so sorry this happened to you.

Kindly,

Kitt

I am so glad you went to the Dr. when you did and yes it does seem impossible that this should have happened to you.  Even people with "desirable"cholesterol levels (<200) develop blockages. On the other hand, there are those who have cholesterol levels well over 300 who never run into any problems. confused

Thank you for posting your outcome.  I wish you the best heart health ever from here on forward.

Kindly,

Kitt

CVC,

We are told that diet and exercise are the keys to cardio health. Don’t smoke, don’t drink in excess and eat a low fat/cholesterol diet and exercise and all should be well. Am I correct to assume that you eat a healthy diet and don’t smoke and don’t drink a lot(or at all)? I think most, if not all, would consider biking 20miles per day a sufficient exercise regimen. Those keys to cardio health are spot on but there is one additional and very cheap, very important and very non-patentable thing missing from the equation which is ascorbic acid(vitamin C).

There are only four species of mammals which do not make their own ascorbate(vitamin C). These are humans, gorillas, guinea pigs and fruit bats. Hibernating mammals such as bears have cholesterol levels that exceed 400mg/dl yet they do not have heart disease like humans do. The difference is they produce massive amounts of ascorbic acid in their livers 24/7.

If you want to understand the mechanisms of focal arterial scurvy(heart disease) check out this link www.internetwks.com/owen/suppress.htm and www.seanet.com/~alexs/ascorbate/197x/stone-i-orthomol_psych-1979-v8-n2-p58.htm and the excellent book by Thomas E. Levy called Stop Americas #1 Killer.

You will find out why your healthy lifestyle has not made you immune to atherosclerosis(blockage/heart disease) and most importantly, you will find out how to reverse your atherosclerosis.
Linus Pauling, Matthias Rath, Thomas E. Levy, Fred Klenner, Robert Cathcart, Sydney J. Bush-- These are my doctors and they saved my life and I have never met one of them.

My father in law just had stints put in and seems to be doing just fine. The doctors at http://www.mercyweb.org/heart.aspx
were all very informative and supportive. He also had a heart attack and stints put in several years prior. How much does diet effect your heart? He eats salt and the doctors said not to but now that he is home he said a little is fine. A little all the time though??? Or is this not that big of a deal?
