Hello,
I am new to this forum and I have a question that maybe someone can answer. I recently in the past week have been diagnosed by my cardiologist as having cardiomyopathy of an unknown cause. He believes it could be related to the AS (Ankylosing Spondylitis)-An Arthritic condition-that I have as well.  My coronaries were clear, but EF was 40% and a dialated left ventricle and also with PVC's. I am a 46 male, non smoker and social drinker. I have a family history of heart disease as my father died at 43 of heart disease and my grandfather at 55 of the same disease.

My question is really about the pain and burning sensation in my chest I have been having over three days now and today its feeling also like I have something heavy on my chest.  It has even waken me up twice at nite. The only descriptions I can describe it as if a burning sensation with pain that radiates my sternum and travels to the right and left side of my sternum. Really strange feeling almost like a lactic acid build up after a heavy workout. I am breathing normaly but have a nagging cough since november that I cannot shake.  When I get this feeling which happens hours on end then stops for a while I also get my PVC's. Should I see my DR?  Is it a heart attack? Its not really painfull. What could it be?

With your history I would strongly encourage you to talk with your Cardiologist and if you feel you need to be seen sooner please present to an E.R.

Thinking of you,

Thanks Kitt,
Went to emergency room as it got worse and through blood test, and exray they believe its either GERD or my AS. I personaly believe it is not GERD as I have had heart burn many times over the years and never felt like that. Its a weird buring pain that moves from the right and left side of my sternum and comes in waves. I am having a mild sensation now as I am typing this really weird and its still worrying about it. My cardiologist was contacted and doesn't feel that it is life threatning. So far so good.

Thanks again.

Tom ,
Do stay in touch with your Dr. and consider seeing a GI specialist if this continues so you can rule out GERD as a cause.

Keep in touch and know we care.

Kindly,
Kitt
