Good Evening.  Did your Dr. start you on medications or assume your anxiety was causing the increase in BP?
My Dr. asks me to stop in the clinic for a random check by the nurse so it can be recorded in my chart for trending when I happen to run a bit high in the office.  Most of the time I am right in the ballpark and no problems.
According to the American Heart Association, if your blood pressure is already high, exercise can help you control it.

How are high blood pressure and exercise connected? Regular physical activity makes your heart stronger. A stronger heart can pump more blood with less effort. If your heart can work less to pump, the force on your arteries decreases, lowering your blood pressure.
Mountain climbing - how high is the mountain ?  People can experience shortness of breath at high mountain elevations .  Oxygen is needed for the heart.................ta da, I bet you knew that.
Good luck and let us know how you are doing.
