I was wondering if can I still compete for and Ironman for the next few years. Although I train my self 3 times a week I was wondering if I can still make it.. not to win, but to be a finisher. I was diagnosed with anxiety for the past years and dizziness, palpitations and anxiety attack came to me . I was terrified. This year I was diagnosed with mild hypertension although most of the time my BP are in the pre-hypertension stage 120/90 my doctor told me to take my meds because my bp sometimes is bothersome 130/90, 130/100. Today my BP is awesome, 120/80, 110/70 . I did several check ups, 2D ECHO, STRESS TEST, HOLTER, CBC, GLUCOSE, ETC ETC. All of them came to NORMAL. My doctor told me that I can do everything. Not to mention that my cholesterol is bit high, but its not bothersome she only remmended me diet . All though all of the test are normal and with the GO SIGNAL of my doctor , I am still hesitate to compete. I feel dizziness most of the time I don’t know if it is on medication because even without taking my hypertensive medicine I feel the same. All so there was a time that I feel I cant breath enough air and hot flushes (no pain in the chest or what ever) but it can relieve after resting… I love to compete TRIATHLON, being an athlete is on my blood. Please give me some advice. Last night I run 10k without any dizziness and exhaustion….:(

The only way that you can find out if you can do it, is to go for it. If the doc gave you the 'okay'. Then I don't see any reason not to try. IF this is an important goal of yours, I would say try. Hopefully other members can give you better advice. Just keep taking your bp medicine.
