I am sure that this is not the right place to post this question but I don't know where to put it.

I have a friend who is in the hospital and her blood work has shown a low white blood count.  I know that white cells indicate infection at times but my question is what else could this indicate?  She is an elderly woman, was having chest pain but heart attack has been ruled out.  Any answers would be helpful.

Thanks

Annie

Annie,

Your friend is lucky to have you in her life to be caring and concerned about her.

As for low WBC many things can cause WBC to drop so I do not want to guess what may be wrong.  Here is a link that may be helpful for you :

Kindly,
