I am a 72 yr old male. I recently had an angiogram, which indicated my heart was in great shape, no blockages and minimal plaque build up. However, the pressure in my heart sac was 22 vs a high end range of 12. This created pressure onto the heart, which the doctor believes causes the discomfort in my chest, shortness of breath and fatique in doing any physical effort.
The two cardio drs put me on dieuretics to remove the water from my body. A side effect was to lower my blood pressure to the point that I am confused and "cloudy". when my blood pressure went down to 68/72 (yes, I know , very strange) the dr took me off the dieuretics. However, my blood pressure is still low. I function best around 130/70. Lower than 120/70 and I start to feel confused. The morning it was 105/68 with a plus of 54. I underswtand that this is the only treatment for this condition, unless it gets very bad, then they drain the fluid away. I am not there yet.
I had lost 10 lbs while on the dieuretics, and am now gaining that weight (probably water) back.
I am still working part time as a bookkeeper and this confusion is causing me issues at work.
Is there anyone out there that has experienced this problem, and how have you managed it?
