Hello all. Im new to the forum. I am a 31 year old female who has just starked out on a journey of which i know nothing about and Im a wee bit scared.

Looking back I've been tired for a long time. My symptoms started in September 2011. I was a very fit child, hockey, netball, athletics and had no problems. I put on a lot of weight due to other issues (depression over anything physiological) and last spring I decided to get got for my wedding in Feb 12.

I exercised no problem until September. I was running about 5k three or four times a week and had lost 2 stones in weight. One day, running before work I started to feel very ill. I went dizzy and fell over. I got up, felt spaced out and had to recover for the next 30 minutes.

This continued over the coming months. Not everytime i exercised but in total until January 2012 it happened approximately 10 times. The last time scared me sufficiently to stop exercising and I have since put weight back on.

For a long time my GP thought it was vertigo but this was precluded. I was referre d to Biology at the hospital and had an echo. It showed a definite interatrial septal aneuyrism. My cardiologist said its likely I have a PFO and is doing the bubble test at the end of this month.

Are these things serious or no big deal? What are the implications of them? Were the fainting fits/episodes i had strokes? How are they likely to be treated?

My heart is in sinus and my o2 sats are fine. Its frustrating because when i did my treadmill test i was fine and i almost wanted it to happen to prove im. not making it up!

What should/shouldn't i be doing and asking for? So confused. I've not.found.much on analysis on the internet. If anyone has any into specially about this that will be cool.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Evie,
Welcome to HealingWell and please know I am sorry I am just responding to your post now.  I was hoping one of our members would come along and advise you.  I do not have a PFO.  I did have a TIA 1 1/2 years ago and had all the testing for a PFO which included the TEE but my heart was OK.  The TEE was a walk in the park as the meds they give you work very well so nothing to stress about re this test.
I am going to post a link to one of the best sites online that will cover most of your questions:
I also have GERD so I can understand how it is hard to know what is causing the chest pain but fainting 10 times is not normal and   in my opinion may  be cardiac related from what you have explained in your post. Fainting is a temporary loss of consciousness.   People faint because of a lack of blood flow and decreased oxygen to the brain.

I am glad you are set up to see your cardiologist and I hope you let us know what the outcome is of your test.

Again a warm welcome to you.
