My husband went through a liver transplant last year (doing quite well - he's 64) - began retaining fluid in his legs - and an abnormal EKG - two stress tests later he's been diagnosed with CHF.    What's the expected life expectancy of someone with CHF; I understand there are many factors.  We're in the beginning stages of diagnosis.

rcmoonpie,

Hey there, I am sorry to hear of your husband's new dx of CHF.  My hubby was dx in September of 2011 and he is 65 years old so I understand your concerns.

I wish I could give you the straight answer you so desperately want; unfortunately, it is not possible. The Cardiologist told my husband to carry on with his life as usual and he has.  He also has Crohn's Disease, and nasty arthritis and some mild kidney function problems. He only has one kidney so we walk a fine line in choosing meds for him.

I wish you peace and do keep talking to us as we are always here to support and listen to you.

Kindly,

Kitt

Thank you, Kitt.  I'm sorry to hear about your husband as well.  After spending years tending to Ron's Hep C and end stage liver disease with a liver transplant last year, we felt like life was going to look up and things would be smoother sailing.  I think I know everything there is to know about the liver - so, I guess I need to pin the doctors down for more information on his heart condition.  Ron, too, is having kidney issues - I guess that goes hand in hand.  Thanks for listening.  Pam
