Hi Guys, Just snuck out of the Prostate Forum, so as I could ask a more
relevant question here please. I am now 55yrs and my blood pressure
is 150/80, is this normal or should I start to do something about it. Its been this way for a couple of years now. Should I be concerned or just keep monitoring.

The 80 is fantastic, I am not sure about the 150. I don't think it is bad though. Keep posting and know that we all care.

Good Afternoon,
Please don't feel that any question is "stupid" - we are here to help and support you from our own personal knowledge and experience.  Remember we are not professionals :-)
To the best of my knowledge -

High Blood Pressure - Blood pressure of 140/90 or higher is considered high blood pressure. If one or both numbers are usually high, you most likely have  blood pressure problem. This is something you want to discuss with your Dr. as perhaps an adjustment in your lifestyle is all you need to bring your BP into the normal range.

I was dx with high BP in my forties and with a bit of medicaiton and some change in my diet - low salt diet - I maintain a normal BP.

Yes, it is very normal for people your age to have high blood pressure, and yes, you do need to do something about it. As stated above, blood pressure should be under 140. You have stage 1 hypertension, which is ussually just treated with lifestyle modifications (diet (less salt), excersize, and weight loss). However, if you are unable to achieve a bp of under 140 with lifestyle modifications, i do beleieve you would start treatment. You should still probably see a doctor as they may want to run some test and rule out other problems
