I am a 50 years old female.  I have AF and very sensitive with medecine.  I've found out that I had gout 7 mos. ago and I was  really shock because I always had a healthy balance diet ( and I am just 5 feet and 100 lbs) .  I'd tried Allopurinol 100 mg; but my ALT went up to 200 so I had to stop it.  Then I tried Urolic but then because of a lot of side affects, I stopped.  Now my doctor wants me to try Cymbalta. I did some research and found out this med. have a lot of side affects and can increase heart beat;  and I could not find anything relating this medicine with lowering uric acid level.

I'd like to know if anyone has any any idea about Cymbalta.

Thanks.

Hello and welcome,

I have heard of people using Cymbalta to help control some kinds of pain but I do not find any solid evidence that it is used to reduce   uric acid levels.

I would kindly suggest calling your Dr. to clarify how Cymbalta is suppose to help you or seek a second opinion.  Be your own best advocate.

Let us hear how you are doing?

Kindly,
Kitt

I have found myself having some episodes with gout. I take a lot of meds already for my heart and try to find natural methods whenever possible. I found some black cherry concentrate and take that whenever I feel the gout coming on. That has kept any gout problems in control so far.

Thank you Summer, I'll try it. Can I just eat fresh black cherries instead of concentrate juice because I want to avoid added sugar in the juice? Black cherry is cherry with dark color or it is different kind of cherry?

Not too sure. I would suppose fresh cherries would work. I have used several brands over time. This month's bottle is from Sundown. The carbs are 28g (all sugar) per the 2TB dose. I have never cared for the texture of a cherry so I do not eat them.
