Hi everyone, had an awesome day today. After 4 1/2 years at my job and struggling working 2 jobs I will be full time at the senior center on July first. That means my insurance will go from 458 a month down to 55 a month. Woohoo I might finally get to quit my night job and get some sleep for the first time in 10 years. They think all the hours I worked may have contributed to my heart disease at the young age of 42. Well off to my crummy night job for now. Barb

hi one and all,

now i'm confused - who had the endoscopy, barb or heidi?  i'm thinking barb, but whoever, i'm SO GLAD to hear you've had it and remember zero.  isn't that wonderful?  i'm like you, i'm due a colonscopy now, but not feeling anything like that might be a problem so i'm in no rush.  other things to take care of first, like dental probs.

i'm still at mayo in phoenix, but i hope to go home to texas on friday or saturday.  but i don't have my big consult with the last guy 'til thursday quite late, so we'll see what he says.  i can't tell all of you enough just how outstanding it is to be here.  i love my home, but wish i could get medical like this nearby.  they are always on time, they are coordinated, they coordinate all your health care concerns (ALL), the technicians have been kind and compassionate and patient beyond belief, the doc's thoughtful and thorough and on time always, scheduling for all done by a central place, with you and your calendar in hand.  i can't say enough good things about this place.  i have only consulted with the cardio guy who pretty much agreed with my own doc, even though i didn't prompt him.  he did suggest a change or two in meds and i'll discuss that with my own guy when i get home.  but he feels like another heart cath right now would not be a good thing, might just encourage more scar tissue forming, so unless i feel much worse he thinks not.  he said once you get past 6-8 months with heart procedures that's an excellent sign - so teri, i know you're coming up on 10 months for your bypass, right?  looks like a great sign -

horrible gastro tests today, couldn't breathe, they called in the heart guys and they still don't know, maybe i just hyperventilated or somerthing, but my BP was 200+/something and they all were pretty worried, me too!  i also had a big fat barium swallow to tack on to the loveliness of the day and have been having "problems" ever since, if you know what i mean.  i won't go into detail!

Awwww (((Libby))), ya poor thing-I do understand what you mean!!

I'm so happy to hear from you! :) Sounds like you are having the absolute works done to you. Pretty scary, though to have your BP go way up like that!! :(

Texas is waiting for you...you take care.

Libby, that sounds like the place to be! I don't know why you happened to be in Phoenix. Did you go there to get medical attention, or were you already there?

Morning all!

I'm really starting to get nervous about my ablation.  It's only about 48 hours away now.  yikes!  I've got a lot to keep my busy today...just wish it was fun stuff!  Two of my friends are having surgery - one for skin cancer and the other (our music teacher!!) is having throat surgery.

I get to go pick up my cpap today!  Wow...I can't believe I'm finally getting this thing.  I had the diagnosis of sleep apnea in March and the titration in April...and now I finally get it!  lol

I also have to stop by the vet today to pick up some antibiotics for my little hamster.  I cleaned out Snickers' cage yesterday and she scared me.  With everything that's gone on these past few weeks, I haven't paid too much attention to her...just made sure she was eating and drinking.  When I went to pick her up and put her in her hamster ball, I noticed her right eye is all gunky and her abdomin is swollen.  I got a vet appt right away.  (I know...I know...only a hamster but she's my little girl and I love her tons.)  The vet said not to worry about her eye...just an infection and some ointment will clear it up.  She said her abdomin was distended and that's not good.  The fluid she drew was dark...also not good.  She said it's probably a mass...possibly a tumor.  Gave me three options.  Use antibiotics and hope that helps.  She said it probably won't but there's a chance.  I could do nothing and hope it clears up on its own.  Or I could put her to sleep.  She said putting her to sleep isn't out of the question at this point.  However, I needed to look at her quality of life...she's still being "a hamster" - eating, digging, burrowing, storing food, etc.  That's not an option for me right now since she's still doing all those thing.  The vet said that if she stops eating and playing around, that I may want to think about that.  I'm very sad about that possibility.  Yesterday was not a fun day.

Libby, a big PS to you! It was Barb that had the endoscopy!! I'll let her fill you in on the rest-but the procedure went well for her this time! :)

Lil, I'm thinking of you and know the nerves must be kicking in for you now, but you did great during your first ablation, I have high hopes that you will do really good this time as well!! My heart and prayers go out to you! :)

Heidi, you know you have my prayers and many others, we just want you healthy and ready to go for your first response team test on June 18th!? (right date?) They need you to be okay!! I need you to be okay! :)

Best wishes to you, all my friends, and Big Hugs, Teri :)

hi all,

hi kathlyn, and welcome, you are a new moderator since i left for phoenix!

yes, i came here solely to seek medical advise - can't remember who asked that.  i tried to go to rochester, but they had a 6 month waiting list.  ugh!  and now i'm glad i came here instead, it's smaller, but not very, it's still an enormous place, and i found out that everyone in rochester is coming down HERE, the reputation is getting stronger all the time!  and it's probably a nicer place to visit than minnesota, although i wouldn't recommend doing what i did - coming to phoenix in the summer!  ugh.  105 next week.  only a texan is able to handle that, i'll betcha!

off for gastro consult today.  how nice, i know they'll be right on time.  in fact, they have a policy here, if YOU are more than 10 minutes late they assume you are not coming and you must reschedule.  zounds!

libby

Hello, Libby, and thank you for the warm welcome! I hope to get to know you better!

I'm interested in the gastric thing, if you are talking about bypass. My ex is a heart patient, and has a very damaged heart. His cardiologist who happens to be mine too, said he would okay it because he had to do something about his weight and nothing else had helped. He's been talking to me that I need to get one so I can live longer. I'm going to ask the cardi at our next appt.

hi all,

just found out a few hours ago i have to stay one more week.  i'd say ugh, and i did cry a tiny bit in the lobby, but decided that was stewpid - as that is why i'm here!  the doc wants 3 more tests, and said i could have them back in texas.  and i thought OK.  then i thought how dumb, it will take weeks and weeks to schedule all that and that's why i'm HERE!  and they will do one friday, and 2 on monday.  i have to be semi-knocked out for one.  sigh.  ah well.  at least i'm here and knew i might have to stay.  i wish someone on the forum was in PHOENIX!  wish we didn't all have to worry so much about privacy issues, and could be more in touch if we're in each others towns, but i understand, being a computer teacher, how dangerous that can be.  what a sad state in our world!  at any rate, one more week here and a few more unpleasant tests.

meanwhile, i'm thinking about you all, reading pretty much this thread only, have temporarily lost track with the others, but like to keep in touch with "my ladies" on this one.  oops, what happened to our chevy guy (dan?)?

Hi Libby. I can imagine how disappointed you must have been when you found out you had to stay a week longer. But you bounced right back and realized that it would be better in the long run to do it all there. Hope this week flies by. I'm not in Phoenix, but am here in HOT and HUMID Michigan. I think we are having even hotter weather here than some of the more southern states. Or at least it seems awfully humid and hot at this time of the year. I wonder if this is a sign of what the rest of the summer will be, lol. Kathy where it's in the 90's!
