For the past 2 years I have been trying to figure out what is going on and have had no luck with any doctors so I decided to post something here for some insight, advice, and maybe some other individuals experiencing similar problems. I'll be as brief as I can...
I am a 34 year old white male
Approximately 2 years ago I began having two issues:
1. Problems with my nose (difficulty breathing through nose etc.)
2. Problems with my heart, beating harder than I fel t it should
about 1.5 years ago I quit smoking after 17 years of smoking, hoping that would help/cure me. No difference AT ALL. But I am still smoke free :) During this 1.5 years I have weighed between 165 and 210 I am 5'6" tall.
First my nose, i ended up having septo-plasty surgery after months and months of trying Nasinex, Flo-Naise etc It's been a year and the surgery did little to nothing to help my breathing-through-nose problems and I currently take Flo-Nase daily to help somewhat
Second, my heart.
Initially I would feel my heart beat "Harder" and occasionally faster every couple of days at what seemed to be random intervals. Sometimes it would last for 5 minutes, sometimes 30min
It has now progressed to the point where I feel it several times a day lasting anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours. I've tried to correlate it to food, behaviors, environment, you name it and can't seem to recognize any pattern or cause whatsoever.
I've had the following barrage of tests:
Halter-Monitor - 3 Separate 24-hour periods - All good
2 Separate EKGs/ECGs? - All good
A chest X-Ray - Clear
Pulmonary Function Test - Straight A's
A variety of blod tests (Checking for thyroids, blood sugars etc._ All Good
Recently I've been monitoring my heart rates and blood pressure not knowing what else oculd possibly be causing my unbelievable discomfort. My current average (I check once to twice daily) is
about 3 weeks ago my doctor put me on some blood pressure medication to try and help lower this. I also currently go to the gym 2- 3 times a week and ride the bike/run treadmill for 40 - 45 minutes with my heart rate at about 140 - 160.
I know this is a lot of information, but does anyone have any clue as to what could possibly be causing me to have this "sensation" and/or "incredible discomfort" over these past 2 years.
It's difficult to describe other then I can REALLY tell my heart is pumping. Obviously, I've lived 32 years of my life knowing what a normal heart feels like, these4 past 2 however I DRASTICALLY notice my heart pumping harder, faster at strange times.
Sometimes it happens after I eat, sometimes it happens when I wake up, sometimes it happens when I am trying to sleep and wont let me, sometimes it'll happen while I am sitting or layign and relaxing, sometimes while working out. I just can't pin it down to anything.
Your thoughts, advice and even prayers owuld be greatly appreciated :)
