Ok, so my history so far....I was going through some stress back in October and noticed palpitations. At that time I never actually put my hand on my chest to notice that it skipped beats.mi went to my doctor and she requested a holter monitor. A couple of weeks later (still had not had the holter yet) I went to emergency because I just didn't feel right. Lightheaded, nauseous, poundung heart, just not right at all. 9 hours later they sent me in to a shrink. I was so humiliated and felt like they weren't taking me seriously so when he asked what I expected out of the visit I said at the very least an EKG and blood work. Of course everything came back fine and they told me to learn to relax.
In the last 2 weeks I have had pretty much constant pvc's. They go away when I am watching tv but otherwise they are there. Also in the last 2 weeks I have been diagnosed with piriformis syndrome and in severe pain quite often. I went to my doctor again and this time she heard the skipped beat and said " oh, it's just a premature ventricular contraction and it's normal". She wasn't concerned and didn't send me for an EKG or took any blood work. Yesterday I went to the hospital because they are driving me crazy!!! Got in right away for an EKG and blood work, sat around for about 4 hours. The nurse called me up to take my vitals again while I was waiting and said everything came back ok. I asked if I should stay and talk to a doctor and was told that I was a big girl and I could make that decision. I waited another 4 hours and couldn't stay any longer because of my othe pain. I told them I was going.
I know my doctor will call because they will have notified her that I went to emerg.
I am getting so frustrated with these! I'm wondering if they are caused by the stress of my piriformis being so painful. Plus I'm thinking about the pvc's all the time!!

Hi Stingray,

I suffered from PVCs and it would scare the heck out of me. I didn't believe anything the heart doctors said about it being safe and nothing to worry about. My GP prescribed me zoloft after I had a nervous breakdown after a round of PVCs, I was scared and thought I was going to die any minute. I have been on zoloft now about 4 weeks. I rarely get a PVC, the most I have had was maybe 2 that I felt. I do believe stress is a major cause of these darn things.

I will pray for your comfort and healing.

Hi Stingray,

I completely know what you are going through. I have been dealing with PVC's and PAC's for the past 20 years or so (and I'm only 29). I also have something known as PSVT, which is a fast heart rate that occurs at random times. I too have been to the ER many times, and have also seen a shrink for anxiety because of it all. I have had echo's stress echo's, blood tests, event monitors, and 24 hour monitors. I will tell you that if there is nothing structurally wrong with your heart, these PVC's and PAC's will not hurt you. They are sometimes the worst feelings in the world, but they will pass. If you are under a lot of stress (which face it, who isn't nowadays), they will occur more often. Things that help PVC"s is exercise (which may be hard with the piriformis, beta blockers, or getting your mind on other things (Which is hard, I know). But the best thing to know is that these are not life threatening. Let me know if you need anything else or have any other questions, and good luck. :)
