It's sometimes very confusing when you are at the grocery store and you're looking at the butter/margarines/No, or Low fat spreads, or now even the ones that have ingredients that are supposed to lower Cholesterol.

How do you know what to choose?

All of us have our own ideas about this by trial and error over the years - I personally have used Olive Oil, even before it seemed to be a popular oil, as my Grandmother used this in her cooking for years.

Recently though, a study was done and they found that by "replacing saturated fats in the diet with a "balance" of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats" that it helped to lower blood cholesterol.  Sunflower oil supplied both types of fat!

What do you use?

I usually buy Smart Balance and usally canola or olive oil but the extra virgin olive oil I have read in various magazines that Extra Virgin is better for you. But I am eating ok and still had to put on a satin so it is in my genes. But That si what I use smart Balance and it is good tasteing and I also cook with it too when I make my homemade breads etc..
