I've dropped in from the Breast Cancer board. I'm seeing the neurologist, again, tomorrow. He has indicated that my right carotid is 50-60% blocked but he is more concerned about a blood vessel in the brain that is "narrowing". I hope to get a little more info tomorrow but was just curious if anyone else had heard of this.

Hi and Welcome Jo-Ann! tongue

I had a carotid endarterectomy in 2001 in which they removed the excess plaque from the carotid artery.  Generally the concern seems to begin when the blockage is about 70% or above and/or you are showing symptoms such as TIA's, or you've had a stroke...a person can show a narrowing in most any blood vessel of the body, due to plaque, and the older we get the greater likelihood of it happening - perhaps this is what this is?  I'm wondering why you had these tests done?  What symptoms you are having at the present time?

Your neurologist is sure to be able to answer these questions for you, Jo-Ann, and I truly hope they are positive answers!! yeah

Please stop back by and let me know how you are doing!?

Hugs, Teri tongue

I had a stent put in my left carotid in 2001, 99% blockage and a couple dozen tias. I went back to the neurologist because the stent was starting to bother me, not painful, just irritating.

He sent me for a sonogram of both sides and then an MRA. It was the dye-injected MRA that showed the vein problem. I know that they could do something about the right carotid having 50-60% blockage, but he did say the vein (or artery, I'm not sure yet) was inoperable.

I will see him tomorrow for a follow up appointment and two pages of questions. I was wondering if anyone has had clogged veins and used an alternative treatment in conjunction with their medical protocol.

Thanks, and I'll report back.

Joann please check in and let us know how yuo are doing and what the neuro say's. I am also wondering if yu are any drugs for your Breat cancer that could have a side effect of this causing them to get small and clogged. I have heard of cartoids geting stents for I know a RN in the CREST Trail going on hear  in 2004 but I am wishing yuo the best my dear joann and plese check back in.

Now for alternative treatments be careful for even OTC  and herbal, Homepathic treatments can ****er effect medicines yuo are on and make yuor problems worse so be careful with those treatments plese. I know i was using one for excessive bleeding and it made my Bp drop even lower and then also my doctor told me too much green tea makes you urnitate your medicine out of yur system so tke it in am aafter you take all yur medicnes with an hour or in afternnon if not on meds but told me no more than 2 cups  aday so that is one way OTC and herbal treatments can interfere wiht yur medicine.
