With so many people today taking so many medications, it pays for all of us to be very careful, so that mistakes are caught before we take them!  Make sure that you know from the Dr. to the Pharmicist the following...

  • "What are the brand and generic names of the medications?
  • What does it look like?
  • Why am I taking it?
  • How much should I take, and how often?
  • When is the best time to take it?
  • How long will I need to take it?
  • What side effects should I expect, and what should I do if they happen?
  • What should I do if I miss a dose?
  • Does this interact with my other medications or any foods?
  • Does this replace anything else I was taking?
  • Where and how do I store this medicine?"

How do you get your Vitamins?!

"Eat Vitamins, Not Pills?" confused http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/news/fullstory_26118.html

"On the surface, it makes all the sense in the world: Since fruits, vegetables, and fish contain loads of healthy nutrients, why not isolate those vitamins, put them in pills, and gobble them up? And wouldn't more be better?"

"Action of Nitroglycerin for Chest Pain May Place Some Patients at Risk"

    08/23/2005

"Durham, N.C. -- Definitive evidence to explain how the drug nitroglycerin relieves chest pain has resulted from a new study by Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigators at Duke University Medical Center. Nitroglycerin relaxes blood vessels to boost blood flow, yet the mechanism by which the drug works has remained a matter of scientific controversy."
