The last time I saw my heart doctor he said my triglycerides were high. And I was reading about how they are sure that they are part of the cause of heart disease.

So I need to know what is a high number? My latest chart number is 76...

As for the cause I think I still eat too much carbohydrates.

My cholesterol is vary good at 31

The National Cholesterol Education Program sets guidelines for triglyceride levels:

Normal triglycerides means there are less than 150 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL).

Borderline high triglycerides = 150 to 199 mg/dL.

High triglycerides = 200 to 499 mg/dL.

Very high triglycerides = 500 mg/dL or higher.

Normal value ranges may vary slightly among different laboratories. Talk to your doctor about the meaning of your specific test results.

The examples above show the common measurements for results for these tests. Some laboratories use different measurements or may test different specimens.

I hope this answers your question.

would it be different for some one that had several stints implanted?

Like do you think 76 would be considered high?

And can you tell me what AST and ALT means on my Lipid panel??
