I am new to this forum, but am finding it quite helpful. I am 67 yrs old and was diagnosed 6 years ago with a 4.5cm anuerism in the arch of my aorta. It has not grown at all, for which I am extremely grateful! However, I must say, some days it overtakes my life with worry. I go to the gym 5-6 days a week and do the treadmill and a few weight machines. My cardiologist said to keep my heart rate low, and I am on medication for it. Also I am on medication to keep my blood pressure low. I do fly, our son and his wife and our new granddaughter live in Colorado and the Dr. assured me it would be fine. I still worry about it constantly while in flight. I do take anxiety medication, because stress is certainly not good for us with anuerisms. I guess my question is to all of you, do you also stress about this condition that we have?
Thanks for your time and your help in advance....

I am almost thankful that I never found out about mine until a year ago. I was originally diagnosed with a 4.2cm aortic root aneurysm. I kept having chest pains and shortness of breath, which my cardiologist assured me should not be related to the aneurysm. Well, he eventually sent me for a ct scan 8 months after the echo. Turns out the aneurysm is more like 5.1-5.5cm. The radiologist report said 5.1, but the cardiologist looked at the images personally and he said he felt it was closer to 5.5. I start driving to Cleveland Clinic in the morning for surgery this Friday. The thought of living any longer with it was daunting. I feel relieved that this will be fixed and I can move on.

The good news for you is that it had been stable. It may never grow. It sounds like you are doing everything right.
