Since we have heart disease would any of you donate your body or heart to science so they could learn more about the disease and one day find a cure?

THey told me with my other disease I have  next to heart disease neurofibromatosis I might be able to doante my organs if they are

in good condition and no NF's on them. Hubby is too old and can not give  from the wreck he had back in 1965 he was told.

Actually, I think they can even use skin grafts from people - there's finger nails that they use or hair in drug studies, etc. Just some additional thoughts here. :)

I basically say....HAVE AT IT!! smurf

I'm not going to be using it anymore! Seriously, if my kidneys are in good working order, my sister gets first dibs on those as she is waiting for a kidney transplant. If someone one needs something from my body after I'm gone and they can use it, then by all means use it. If studying my dented ticker is going to benefit someone else, then go for it....like I said, I won't be using it anymore. :-)

After my wonderful mother in law donated her body to science this summer, my own mother decided she wants to do that also. Or is strongly considering it. Louise made me think what a very selfless act that would be and it might help a lot of people. Before that it would have been a "maybe."

I said before my mother in law's decision it would have been a maybe. I'm sorry that was not clear. I have decided to donate my body. Who else would want it.

I never considered donating organs untill after my heart attack..But then I thought how bad I`d feel laying in some hospital awaiting a new heart and no one donating any as I slowly faded away..Now I`m an organ donor

Since all of us are organ donors I hope our family knows we have a card and  like in FLa on Id's adn drivers Licenses you can check a box please ladies and men who also post here but for now it is ladies just please let yur family and kids and grandkids know your wishes so it can folow through. Like me if anyone gets my organs especiallymy heart they will be even a bigger  animal lover. I have heard when yuo get an organ yuo tend to take on some of that persons character likes and dislikes too.

Thanks Teri, My whole family respects donners. I guess we live on when we do. I dont understand why more people dont donate. Then everyone could live on forever . I can understand the unavablility of orgains for little ones ( I have my 10 yr old grandson helping me spell) But adults should be more common. I think more education on the matter is needed to get people to donate. Hey I went to the gerd forum and read your list of food I live on!!! That should be called Dr Norms he seems to have all the answers. Can I live without CARBS? I dont know but I guess when I go shopping I try to eat low carbs for a while. untill later Pat .

PAt they tested ouor sons cord when they were born and yes they wqere identical twins. now for stem cell dopnot kill a healthy baby but use  umbicial cords, liposcuction and the fat has stem cells in it they are saying and use aborted fetuses allready dead too. But I cannot see kiling a perfect good human being for stem cell when they can get stem cells in other ways. I have a disease and if they fund a cure for it I wuld be 110% happy for I hate my other disease isall I am saying it is not heart related though and is gentic and  Univ of Florida has found the cells to combat it but will take years more too before they can say wether it works or not.
