Hi,,,

I dont normally post in here, but i just cant help it today.I am 26 yr old wife and mother of 2 beautiful children. I have anxiety, GERD and a sseizure disorder. As i am sure that many of you know that anxiety is horrid. Last november my close aunt had a heart attack and almost since then i have been feeling heart palpitations, chest pain etc,,, Also i have gone to hospital with chest pain and after doing a EKG and blood work it turned out to be my gerd.,,...Went back again for a different chest pain and was told flat out by the dr that it was because i was fat. That dr also told me that he heard a heart murmer but that it was nothing to worry about.. Well had to go back to hospital for a totally unrelated issue. went to a different hospital,..dr was amazing.. gave me an ekg ( which he described as perfect) but said that he understood my anxiety and would order further testing for me to ease my mind(he doesnt think anything is wrong). He also listened to my heart and DIDNT hear a murmer ...That was last week.. so here i am today with a 24 heart monitor on and tomorrow i go for an echocardiogram (which i will get the results immediately after). Well yesterday i got a horrible phone call telling me that my great grandmother had passed away from a heart attack. So of course combined with a huge amount of grief i cant help but worry myself more. As i sit and type i am overwhelmed, more over the loss of my grams but also combined with worry.. Anyways,, just wanted to vent.. thanks!

Hi boolie!  I'm so sorry about the loss of your grandmother along with everything else your going thru right now!  At least it looks like your new doctor is much better than the last one and is doing the tests necessary to find out just what is going on!  Hope to hear soon what they found out if anything from the monitor.  It will probably be a week or so before you get the results from the echo.  God Bless, Pat

Hi and welcome to the Cardio forum, Boolie! tongue

I am so sorry to hear of your grandmother's passing.  sad   My condolences to you.

There are a few of here with GERD as well.  It can definitely mimic the signs of angina and an impending heart attack.  So you cannot take the chance and you did the absolute right thing in going to the hospital!

I won't comment much on the previous Dr.'s, but I feel that at the very least you should have been given a couple of tests like it seems you are having done now!  The holter monitor is great, along with the echocardiogram and the EKG's that you've had should give them some info.

Please feel free to come here to vent - we all do that! lol

Big Hugs, Teri  tongue

ok so i got  a phone call today from the dr who sent me for those tests. he told me that since i didnt have a family dr that he would tell me the results over the pone. He told me that i have a mild mild valve leak that he could see from the echo... he had the results from the holter but hadnt looked at them yet but said that he would schedule an appt with a specialist for those results and to discuss the MVP.so i am very scared and dont know much about MVP,,, does anyone else have it? i have anxiety as well so this is driving me crazy with worry cuz i have 2 beautiful children that i want to be around for a very long time. Actually my husband and i were wanting to try for a third baby but now i dont know what to think or do... i am just so scared.

Hi boolie! tongue

I just wanted you to know that you are not alone here.  I don't have MVP (Mitral Valve Prolapse), but I do have stenosis and regurgitation of the Mitral Valve.  I've had this particular problem for years and they've told me until it becomes severe, they usually will not do any kind of surgery.  Please check out the following source to find out more!  My best wishes to you.  Hugs, Teri tongue

"What is mitral valve prolapse?"

http://familydoctor.org/598.xml

"If you have mitral valve prolapse, the flaps of the valve don't work well. One of the flaps moves back into the atrium when the heart beats. This can let blood flow from the ventricle back into the atrium.

about 1 in 20 Americans has mitral valve prolapse. People are usually born with it. More women have it than men."
