"Stem cells to be injected into the heart"

"The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center will begin a clinical trial to determine the feasibility of injecting a patient's own stem cells into the heart. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted approval for the trial that would have a patient's own bone marrow-derived stem cells directly injected into the heart during conventional heart bypass surgery."

This is very exciting news for maybe even some of us - or our children!!  To read more on this see the following article...Hugs, Teri tongue http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/news/fullstory_26543.html

If you are even more interested in stem cell research and just how it would work...here is a link that gives you the "basics".  Hugs, Teri tongue

Stem Cell Basics

  1. Introduction
  2. What are the unique properties of all stem cells?
  3. What are embryonic stem cells?
  4. What are adult stem cells?
  5. What are the similarities and differences between embryonic and adult stem cells?
  6. What are the potential uses of human stem cells and the obstacles that must be overcome before these potential uses will be realized?
  7. Where can I get more information? http://stemcells.nih.gov/info/basics/basics6.asp

Just click on the questions above...

This is already being done in some other countries, particularly Thailand where Don Ho just had it done a few months ago. How's he doing? yeah

This is very exciting news and I'm reading quite a bit about it. Here's a companies website that has done quite a bit of actual treatments

http://www.theravitae.com

Go to the news section, have your sound and media player ready to go as there are television interviews of people who have had this done, and the people are from New Jersey., Florida and elsewhere who all flew to Bangkok to have it done. The doctor at Bangkok Heart Hospital is an American MD who apparently was tired of the FDA's feet dragging.

I lived in Thailand for a year and had my initial check ups in Bangkok. My Wife and I are seriously considering a return for this.

Rgrds

Tom yeah
