I am a 50 yr old woman with pericarditis since March 2014. I have had pericarditis before, but it resolved within a few weeks. I am currently taking colchicine, prednisone and ibuprofen (also take other meds for cardiomyopathy, diabetes). Does anyone else ever get such bad chest pains with pericarditis that they wind up going to the emergency room? I don't know how much more of the pain I can take! Jill

Jill,

Hello and welcome to HW.  I am sure many people go to the ER with bad chest pain as they do for chest pain due to many other causes.

I hope you have been talking with your cardiologist as so many things cause chest pain that perhaps you have something else causing the chest pain. I would ask your Dr. to review your meds as perhaps one of the meds side effects may include chest pain.

Have you ever been told you have GERD?  Chest pain is a huge issue for people with GERD?

First things first - talk to your Dr.

I wish I had more information but do know I am thinking of you.
