I had a borderline/normal stress test 2 years ago.Dr.saw slight shadow.Cardiologist gave me option to have heart cath or not.I chose to not.I'm getting another stress test done in a few weeks to check on if the shadow is still there(maybe was nothing 2 years ago) or has progressed. It was showing on the front portion of my heart. My question is this......if this had been an actual shadow showing a small blockage 2 years ago, wouldn't it have caused something worse by now?

I do get a pain above my heart, below my collar bone that feels like it's about 6 inches long, then my arm hurts. It may last seconds to a minute or 2.Does that sound like angina?I do have spine problems but am playing it safe, seeing cardio July 30th and getting another test.

If anyone has had experience with either of the questions I have,I would sure like hearing your story.
Thanks!

hi,

I am sorry to hear of your concern. I can tell you that I get spinal angina attacks from impinged nerves in my spine and neck, and they last for a few seconds, sometimes more than a few seconds. scares the heck out of me. I have been told by my cardiologist that it is not heart related. what complicates this for me, is that I do have CAD in the RCA, with compensated vessels supplying the right side. so everytime I have some kind of chest discomfort due to this, or GERD, or a PVC flairup, I get scared. the only way I have been able to rule out blockages that are not compensated is to get checked by echo stress, and more recently nuclear stress test, and 48 hr holter. You are doing the right thing by getting checked out by your Cardiologist on July 30th. and if you get anything that causes you any distress before then, I would go to the ER. I hope this helps you some.

best of luck to you :-)

McGinnis,

Good Afternoon.  I am sorry to read of your concerns - perhaps you would be wise to call your Dr. and ask if you should be seen sooner.  The 30th of July is not far away but just sharing your concerns with a Cardiologist should relieve some of you anxiety.

Did your original  stress test show ischemia (lack of blood flow)?

"It's reported (in various medical literature and media reports) as being more common than one would think.  The shadow typically occurs over a front (anterior) area of the heart wall, and is an attenuation, or artifact, and is not related to cardiac/myocardial ischemia (an inadequate amount of blood flow going to an area of the heart muscle).  Resources: www.heartsite.com

I hope your appointment with your Dr. goes well.

Kindly,

Kitt
