Hello friends old and new,

I have not been to this site (or any other) in some time. I had bypass surgery 19 months ago and was doing pretty well. My job has gotten very demanding, and participating in an online support group got just too time consuming (I thought)!

I am still doing pretty well, though I have started having some shortness of breath and tightness in my chest when exerting, especially walking uphill when its hot. Also had  a problem when we visited a city that is over 6000 feet. On top of that...is what happened Monday. A woman I knew at work died of heart disease. Her death affected me profoundly. I could not think about her without crying. She was 47 and has 5 children(the youngest is only 18). Her name was Nelda, and she will be the reason I participate in the HeartWalk this year. The whole thing made me feel the need to reconnect with people who understand.

I am one of the lucky ones and I know that. My problems were discovered before there was any damage. I hope I will be able to get my bearing back and maybe contribute to someone else's wellbeing, so here I am.

Hugs to all,

Claudia
