I've been dealing with the lovely series of heart flutters/palpitations/skipped beats for quite some time now, I got them about a year ago and they have taken breaks and then come back. I've gone to the Dr. 3 times and each time he said it wasn't harmful.

What are some ways of coping with them when they do come up and won't leave? The Dr. said I might just have to live with them. Sometimes it's hard, because my anxiety can flare up and my mind will start creating terrible OCD from this. Do you guys have any advice?

Hello Grace and welcome,

Yes, there is a way to cope with them. Sometimes I am not good at it myself, but not letting the anxiety get to you is the best thing. As you know, anxiety just makes them worse. Often, and recently, I had to go out on a half an hour walk first thing in the morning, and that sometimes will get the ecopic beats under control. And sometimes it is just knowing that they are harmless, or so i've been assured, and that in time, they for lack of a better way of putting it, will run their course. I firmly believe that something or multiple somethings irritate mine. GI tracks problems, stress, worry all contribute. But they are very bothersome, and as one doctor put it, very capricious. You are in good company here. It is also comforting to meet people here who are just like you with the ectopic activity and can assure and comfort you in the knowledge that you are not alone with these annoying and sometimes scary irregular beats. best to you. :-)
