Hi guys,

Tomorrow morning I'm scheduled for a heart cath procedure to be done, i'm very nervous! I'm 29 years old, no heart disease in any of my family. I work out regularly and do cardio quite a bit. I do suffer from acid reflux, though.

I've had many ER visits, testing blood, EKG's, nuclear stress test, CT scans, and everything has been clear heart wise. My cardiologist wants to do this procedure for me, for peace of mind basically.

I've looked it up (maybe I shouldn't have) and I see that it's a pretty big deal, I was thinking it wasn't that big of a procedure.

Has anyone gone through this test before and did you have any pains or side effects?

Any information will be grateful,

Thank you.

hello and welcome,

I am not at all sure why a doctor would want to cath a patient who had a negative nuclear stress test and other Cardiac Testing coming back ok. I would get a second opinion from another Cardiologist before I would have this done. I am not a doctor, but I am confused

I had a Cath done in '03 but it was because I had a nuclear thalium stress test which indicated right coronary artery blockage, and they wanted to see how bad things were. I was also alot older than you.
I am really puzzled by the need for one in your post remarks.

And yes, there is always some risk with the procedure...
I was semi out, they want to be able to talk to you and let you know what is going on, and what not to do while they are still going about
their procedure. I hope this is of some help. If all of your tests are fine, I just dont get 'the peace of mind thing'. confused
