I have been having heart palpitations since Monday - 5 days now. I've been to the docs who was not that helpful but sent me for an ECG which said my heart was beating slowly. He was very vague about whether this was bad or not! I do do a lot of exercise so he said people who do generally do have a slow heart but researching it myself, coupled with the palpitations, it could be something more serious but he said it's all fine and no abnormal heart beats during the ECG (but in the 15 second test, i didn't have a palpitation!). My blood pressure is fine too.
He has referred me to a cadiologost to get a 24 hour heart monitor done but thinks it's all fine and just 'ectopic beats'. Seems to be going on for too long though and i am worrying to wait for the next appointment. Has anyone else had anything like this - how long might it go on for etc?

I have loads of ectopic heartbeats!
Mine are premature ventricular beats, there horrible, but doctors deem them absolutely harmless!

I also have a slow heartbeat, it is as low as 44 BPM sometimes, but i do a lot of running around after my kids, so it more than likely means your fit!
You said you do a lot of exercise, so that is why your heart rate will be slow,so that's a good thing! :-)

Ive had 3 heart monitors fitted and all they see is ectopics, and I get occasional runs of the fast heart rate SVT.
My ectopics are quite frequent at the moment, but you have to keep telling yourself they wont harm you, easier said than done i know!

I think i read somewhere that if your heart rate is slow there's more of a chance of ectopics sneaking in!
Hope you feel better soon! :-)
