Hello, this is my first post. I'm hoping someone has some insight into my new symptoms.
A little history... open heart for pulmonary valve repair at age 11 in 1966. doctors told my mother i would always have a hole in my heart, but should be able to lead a normal life (beware of infections)... fast forward to 2014. SOB with minimal exertion, and most cardiac tests have shown diastolic dysfunction (moderate), and grade 2 pulmonic regurgitation. In 2003, I was having some fainting, and serious shortness of breath and had a TEE, and a cardiac cath done.
TEE results showed the following info on the doctors report:
RT and Left atrium enlarged at 4.8cm.
Pulmonic Valve: the pulmonic valve in and of itself opens and closes without restriction. there is evidence of trace pulmonic insuffiency, Of NOTE, superior to the valve on right ventricular outflow tract side, there is a significant jet of appx. 3+. This jet could represent a patent ductus arteriosus vs. a perivalvular leak if indeed the pulmonary valve had been replaced. The report went on to further identify the location of the "jet", as -- superior to the valve above the most superior leaflet. This jet is significant and does travel appx. the entire length of the right ventricular outflow track, and back into the right ventricular. The valve at this point does not look like a bioprosthesis".
My new cardiologist suggests that this report is wrong because no views of this above issue has been seen on any of the latest tests done in 2013, 2014 -- cardiac mri, echo, cath.
I'm very confused... my symptoms have gotten worse, and the doctors seem to believe they shouldn't be.
As mom insists there is a "hole", in my heart - I believe the TEE is correct.
I exercise daily, eat well, do not drink or smoke. Any thoughts??
