Hi  Im new on the board and thought id come for some help. 

I was diagnosed today with PVC's.  Have had them straight with almost every beat since 7 am and now its 10:30 pm and they show no signs of stopping.  These are terrible.  They came out of nowhere after my daughter woke me up abrubtly and they get a little better when Im moving around.  I don't see a cardiologist til the 12th and if i still have these til then Im going to freak out.  The EKG today at my regular doctor showed the PVC's but my sinus mode was fine.  I also have had 2 bouts of diahrhea today.  Doc also took some blood to look at my electrolytes.  I don't know how im going to sleep tonight with these and they make me anxious and im worrying that they will never leave.  My heart was beating fine yesterday what the hell happened?????????  Any help at all you can throw at me would be a blessing.  I know this is fairly common but that only helps so much when your heart is flip flopping all over the place. confused

I'm glad you found us! :)

 

We've had several discussions re PVC's on the forum here, have you been able to read any of them yet?  They are usually benign and they can't always find a reason for them, however, sometimes they may be an indicator of some heart problem, so you do need to get them checked out.

 

I've had PVC's for several years and they've not been any problem except feeling like a hiccupping heart!  And that can feel very unpleasant.  That said, if your's are creating this much discomfort - you may want to just go into the ER and have them check you out right away and get to the bottom of this quicker!!

Thanks for your help. I did go read some of the posts on PVC's and it makes me feel better but Id feel great if these would stop ! I can't even allow myself to think that these won't end. How do they come out of nowhere and be triggered by nothing at all ? I had a LifeScreening done last year that showed no problems with my heart having a propensity for a stroke or heart disease. My cholesterol is 219 but my blood pressure is great and I don't drink coffee or much alcohol and I don't smoke so this has thrown me for a loop. Im afraid to go to sleep !

Dana, I really cannot answer your question.  This is something that a Dr. will have to address to make sure first of all that this is coming from a benign source.  Anxiety, stress, and so many other factors can go into this, lack of sleep, you mentioned the caffeine, but since you don't drink that...not going to sleep will not help you.  Go to the ER and have them evaluate you!  If they feel it's safe enough to send you back home, then perhaps they could give you something for your anxiety so that you could get a good night's sleep. 

 

I noticed with mine in the past that the more stressed I became, the more they came on - so anxiety certainly does not help.  I felt so helpless and even in the hospital they were just going to town, and the nurse was just nonchalant about the whole thing, and I'd had a prior heart attack. 

 

That is not to say that everyone's problems are the same - they're not.  So that's why I'm recommending to you to get these checked out!!

thanks teri you 've been a huge help. I was sorry to hear that you have had a heart attack but you lived to tell about it !
I am definitely getting it checked out, its just that I have to wait to see the cardio and thats the crappy part. I feel I can handle these at this rate if they don't get much worse. I'll keep you posted. Its nice to talk to you about this. I don't feel all alone with this. Im going to try to relax and get some sleep now. God willing tomorrow they will be better. Peace, Dana

Teri, Good Morning.
They are better today after a pretty good nite of sleep. Im still going to follow up on these to be sure. I think I see a connection between my hormones and my period coming again after 6 weeks. I had female surgery a month ago on my ovaries and these beats coincided with getting my period again since surgery. Also my Mother came for a visit after these started(i knew she was coming) and my Mother gives me a general feeling of low level anxiety. Basically Im a mess. Thanks for all your great help and I will keep you posted after i see the cardio and have my echo. Peace.

I'm glad that you slept well.  Perhaps the combination of all of the above created your situation yesterday, but remember only your Dr. can make that call after discussing it with you - so please make sure you keep that appt. and let me know what happens!! :)

Hi Dana!  I can't add much more that would help you than what is in the posts that you have read about PVC's.  But I did want to welcome you and also let you know that your not alone anymore with this problem.   Arrythmias can be soooo frustrating and, as hard as it is to do, trying to keep calm is a big help.   I haven't had PVC's for awhile but when I did once I got over the 1st fright of them I tried to do deep breathing and just get myself busy to take my mind off of them.  That seemed to help me.   Once you get in to see the cardiologist there are meds that can often help keep these PVC's under control so hang in there!   God Bless, Pat

Im doing much better thank you. Went on a long ride with my husband in the country on our motorcycles and feel great. I will still follow thru tho and thanks so much for checking back with me. I will post again with what my problem is you can be sure of that. Peace.
