We just had our last Chat re this topic of multiple illnesses and I thought as it's such a complex thing for many of us, that I'd start a topic re this. yeah

When you are dealing with Heart Disease as a single issue, it's certainly a challenge to change how you eat (low fat, low cholesterol, low salt), keeping up with regularly planned exercise program, trying to lose weight in many cases, giving up a lot of things that just aren't healthy, not to mention tests, lab work, Dr.'s visits and then Medications!

Whew!  Now add in to all of this mixture - another illness, maybe one or two others?!  Perhaps even more...

How many of you with Heart Disease have other illnesses?  How do you deal with that?!  How do you coordinate your med.'s, Dr.'s and all the rest?

Wishing you all the best!

Hugs, Teri tongue

Would you consider vestibular migraines another disease. I've been trying to manage them with diet (talk about confused diets)!!! GRIN My PCP has given me a med, Midrin, that is not supposed to conflict with any of my heart medications, but is contraindicated for people with heart disease!!!

lol Claudia, Yes that would be considered another disease!! :)  Do You get dizzy a lot?  confused   Look at this article that was actually written I think in 1991 or 2 and updated again this year - so apparently this treatment must still be approved as well.

Since I don't know much about this one, can you give me some info on it?  You say it can be controlled with diet as well?  You always did present with interesting health issues, Claudia. VBG lol

Be Well!!

:-)  Hi Everyone:)

I hope all is well or at least good for most of us!! I'm still going through depression, had Paxil raised to 40mg. It has helped somewhat but not completely. Just trying to take it 1 day at a time.
I have asthma, as well as herniated disks in my neck which is really a pain in my neck (HA HA HA). I have GERD but not to the point that I have to take medicine daily. Only when its acting up I take Prevacid.
I believe most of us here take alot of meds for our various problems which is also is quite costly with insurance.
God Bless All, take care and be well.
xoxoMARYME tongue

P.S. Teri I hope all is well with you too!!! yeah

Hi MaryMe! tongue I've missed you.

I'm sorry about the depression, I'm going through basically the same thing and just had my Zoloft increased, so I do understand.  Sometimes I think as our health problems increase, it overwhelms us emotionally and causes depression to flourish.

Re the disc problem, is there any thought to surgery being an alternative?

Wishing you the best!!

Of course, living with any chronic disease is depressing itself!!! I am grateful that I have, thus far anyway, been able to deal with that aspect without additional meds.
Yes, Teri, the dizziness is the main component of the vestibular migraine for me. Fortunately it comes and goes. There is good information out there about "tyramine" free diets. Amines, along with caffeine, are often a trigger for these headaches. As a result I have had to quit all soy products, along with a bunch of other stuff. My PCP has added "Midrin" to my drugs. It does not seem to interact with any of my drugs, but one of the side effects is dizziness (a drug to combat dizziness that causes dizziness???!!!) Hugs to all

Hi Claudia!

That is an odd reaction for something trying to "help" you!?  So do you get painful headaches with this type of migraine?  I did a bit of searching on this, but didn't really see a lot - they just talked about the dizziness part of it.

Could you elaborate a bit re this diet when you have the time?  What does soy have in it that would cause a problem?  I'm asking because, I, too have migraines (different type), but one can always learn and what helps one, just may help another. yeah

I cannot take a lot for my headache as it interferes with either another health issue, or medication.

Hugs always, Teri tongue
