Hello all,

Usually I am in the anxiety board but think my question may better belong here. I was hoping I could get some advice.

I am a very anxious person with anything and everything. I have been able to convince myself that I am going to die multiple times. So long story short I have terrible health anxiety.

Anyways lately I have been getting heart palpitations/flutters. Last night was very bad and it felt like it would beat twice and then skip a beat. It turned into a full blown panic attack. I dont know how much of it was psychological and how much of it could of been my heart. The best description I can give is fluttering and skipping. Usually this happens if I am getting up and then lay back down quickly. Is there a easy solution for this? It feels like it comes in episodes and skips at times. At what point does this become serious ?

I am also prescribed 70mg vyvnase which I did not take yesterday. The only thing that was able to calm me down a tad was my klonopin and I have taken that to help today.

Like I said before. I am extremely health anxious and have been able to convince myself through google and whatver else that I am dying from cancer all the way to HIV. In which that got to the point I asked to be tested for it even though I don't even engage in that activity..

I am 21 years old and need to lose some weight. I used to play football and wrestle but have gained weight sense then. No previous health problems as far as the heart goes.

Currently prescribed
70mg vyvanse (taken last on Thursday)
1mg Klonopin (taken today)
20mg lexapro (not taking.)

Thank you all for your help and time .

I'm kind of going through something similar at the moment. I am also 27/m and an athlete.

I was diagnosed with GERD/Gastritis about a month ago and I noticed heavier heartbeat and occasional pvcs with the same double beat and skip. I sometimes get about 4-5 of them and then back to a normal heavy beat when I also get up too fast to do something right away. Like you, it freaks me out so I just had some bloodwork and an Eco done this morning. They also gave me a Holter to wear for the day. I also go through the worst case scenario thought process and think "Uh Oh! I'm having heart failure!"

The lady doing my Eco kind of freaked me out for a second because in the middle of it she said "Hold on for a second, I will be right back" and brought in the guy who does the Eco readings to take a peak at the Eco while she was doing it and said to him "look right here". There was a pause and I started panicking because you think there's something wrong when this happens and then the guys goes "it looks good". Then he asked me "are you an athlete?" and I said "yes" and then he said again "ok, it looks good" and walked out. Then she was like "well I knew he was right down the hall so I figured I would ask him while he was standing right here". I am thinking he was seeing what my primary care doctor saw the other day which was a couple extra beats which I was told was normal for athletes, but it scares you none the less.

I think alot of my heart related issues are also due to anxiety. Get some testing done to ease your mind if need be.

If you are truly scared, schedule an appointment with your primary and tell them what's upsetting you.

Hi Humble

I am new to the forums but I seem to be going throught exactly what you are

about 4 years ago I started noticing when I lay down I get this funny feeling in my chest almost like a flutter I was about 16 at the time. and then after about 6 months after noticing I was skateboarding with some friends. I was really out of breath and then all of the sudden I felt really strange and dizzy. I didn't know where it was coming from until I put my hand on my chest and my heart was racing it never went so fast ever. I was really freaking out and across the street there was a doctor as I was running to him it stopped. it felt like someone punched me in my chest my heart went from 200+ bpm to 80+ in 1 second. From that day on I had massive anxiety always putting my hand on my chest to feel if its still beating like it should. I was to scared to do any sports or anything..I decided to go to the doctor about a month after it happend I had an EKG , heart sonar, stress test and holter for 24 hours and still they said everything looked good.. so I went on with my life every now and then I get these episodes where my heart would beat really fast I would feel dizzy and start to panic. usually what I did to prevent it was just take a deep breath and keep the breath in till it went away.Everything was ok for the up until now I hadn't had an episode in almost a year and about a week ago I started getting these weird feelings like an episode would start and then it doesn't like a quick flutter with a weird feeling in my chest. I did some research and it looks alot like pvc's. but I also saw some other stuff that kinda scared me .. I hope someone knows what i'm talking about.. in the past I usually got these episodes when I would do something that would involve movement.. I did javelin throw in highschool and 1 time I threw it and I got an episode my heart suddenly went from a stable 120+150 to 200+ in a second and you can really feel it... another time when I was jumping off a rock landed and had an episode.

Now I get them everyday, but not a full episode just a flutter or a flop. the weird thing is I dont get them when I lay down anymore..

Hope someone can shed some light on the situation
