Artery tear

Had a stent put in and found out later ther was a very small tear in the artery during the implanting. Took care of it, was told no big deal it happens on occasion. Fine. Anybody else have this happen to them? Going for a stress test next week, still having slight chest discomfort once in a while and have a burning sensation at times as well. Anybody else have this feeling?

Hi Vinny - I've missed you!

Though, I'm sure sorry to hear you are having problems?!

Re the tear in the artery...from what I've read, it generally produces no problems. Are you on Aspirin and Plavix? That's usually the general med.'s after a stent. If that is the case, you should be just fine and it will heal from the scarring. You have layers in your artery, so I would guess they just had a tear in one of the layers? My advice to you would be to discuss this with your Cardio Dr., Vinny, especially if you are having any problems - just to make sure all is well. Just give them a call...

PS Vinny, I had a problem with my last stenting, too. :( The artery actually ruptured when they put the balloon in and tried to open it - my arteries were calcified. That's when I had my bypass. Though, it worked well for me, my other arteries were in pretty bad shape, too.
