I'm 20 years old and have had seizures/blackouts since I was 3. The first one I had at 3 I had a temperature. I have seizures randomly but also have had them when unwell or scared. I've had many ECGs and Long QT has never been picked up. The only thing that has been picked up is sinus tachy and very recently type 1 second degree heart block. I've had: An echo A tilt table test A 4 day holter monitor Overnight monitoring in hospital when my heart rate was 177. Numerous ECGs I can go like ten months without a seizure. Just as I'm dropping off asleep I sometimes wake up gasping for air.. Then I can go back to sleep and sleep fine. My dad has passed out around 4 times in his lifetime from when he can't tolerate pain but it's very rare. He just faints, no seizures. What I'm wondering is, does it sound like I have long QT? Would it be picked up on the 4 day holter monitor? Thanks. Worried.

Gasping for air means sleep apnea ,but a sleep study should be done in your case.
Long Qt is easy to detect.
Don't worry too much .
See a neurologist who might have answers for you.

hi jene. i have had 2 sleep studies done. i have acute obstructive sleep apnea, and sleep maintence insomnia. my surgeon was the one who instructed me to have a second study after my double by-pass. i feel, as with cilly, that this is a good thing. everything is monitored. take care. i use a cpap and it helps.
