Hi. I have been on high cholesterol meds for years. Due to a change in my insurance meds are no longer covered. I was taking Vytorin which worked great. My numbers went from high to optimal. It was great. Due to the Vytorin being priced way over budget I switched to Zocor which can be purchased in generic form but doesn't contain the zetia. As you know Vytorin is composed of zetia and Zocor. After 6 months of just Zocor my numbers are again reaching high levels. Going back on Vytorin isn't really an option as its $300 a month! Does anyone have any ideas on things I can do to lower my numbers? I work out 90 minutes a day. I only have 10 pounds to lose which I'm working on. Any help is appreciated. BTW I've been told my cholesterol levels are due to genetic reasons. Thanks for any help you can give.

This might not be your issue, but I recently dropped my cholesterol 60 points and the only thing I did was to stop drinking tea. It was 213 in June, and now it's 153.

I found out that tea contains high levels of fluoride which affect the thyroid which affects your cholesterol. I had normal thyroid tests, so don't count on those to tell you if you have a problem with thyroid.

I'm going to post about it on here so more people know about this. I'm just completely shocked that tea had such a negative affect on my health. I didn't even like green tea very much, but I thought it was good for me!
