Hello, I am a 47 year old female that has been suffering with SVT for 8 years. I had to go to the ER with my episodes because it would last for several hours and my bpm would average anywhere
from 230bpm to 300bpm leaving me short of breath and feeling like I was going to pass out. I always had to have adenosine to get me back in sinus rhythm. I decided to treat the SVT with flecainide 50mg 2x a day.. I gained weight and felt terrible! I was terrified of having the ablation because of all of the negative things that I had read online.. Well, I decided to go for it and had my ablation... The anticipation of the procedure is much worse than the actual procedure itself.. It was a piece of cake.. I have not had any complications at all.. I feel great and it has only been 2 days!! I wanted to post this to help others out there that are struggling with SVT and scared to have the ablation because it may make it worse... Find a reputable electrophysiologist and discuss
the risks, it can be different with each individual depending on the location of your svt... if they get in there while doing an EP study and its high risk, they can always back out and not do the procedure.. Hope that this can help others out there :-)
