Heart rate dropping to mid 40s when I'm lying down/resting,is this dangerous? I've no chest pain or anything and I don't do any sports or strenuous exercise,I have mild mitral & tricuspid regurgitation which was found when I had an echo in october, also my results for my recent holter monitor test i had done in december come back normal, report says "Sinus rythm with episodes of sinus arrythmia. Heart 50-168, mean heart rate 74bpm"
"P-R interval within normal limits"
"Episodes of diurnal bradycadia slowing to 42 bpm"
"Very occasional SVE's"
"Some sinus arrythmia with symptoms"

Depends upon the person. If you are athletic - especially a runner - that would not be unusual at all. Speak at length to your cardiologist if you're concerned. If you're not happy with their response talk to a different one.

FYI - I had always had a low heart rate - very low 50's when sitting and would drop to the high 40's laying down.

After an unrelated surgery my heart rate dropped and I was having problems: slow recovery (heart wouldn't speed up fast enough with activities) and weakness/heavy sweating episodes.

Bottom line was that after numerous visits with Cardiologist and EP as well as monitors (48 hrs and 3 week) + other tests; they determined that my average heart rate had dropped to 44 and that I would periodically get to the upper 30's. But, the primary risk factors were my slow recovery rate and the episodes that I was having placed me at risk and I had a pace maker implanted.

While we're still working on preventing the episodes where I have weakness/heavy sweating, everything else has improved dramatically. I never realized how tired I was everyday until the pacemaker which improved how I felt. BTW, my pacemaker is set to a minimum of 50 which while is still considered pretty low was inline with where I was prior to then.

Are you on a Beta Blocker? That could slow your heart rate by 10 beats.
I am in the mid 50's, at rest, sometimes when i first wake up i am as low at mid 40's. Dr doesnt seem concerned.

From googling on the internet, i dont think diazapam would affect your heart rate, especially at that low dose. Of course I'm not a medical professional. I would speak to the Dr if you are concerned. You should be able to ask any question you want to, about your concerns, without hesitation.
