Hello everyone. I am a 27yo female 5'3 200lbs (yes overweight) and have noticed that my bpm are always between 87-100 when sitting or laying down. I never really paid attention or knew about it until a month ago when I underwent gynecologic robotic assisted surgery. Fast forward I had surgery, was moved up to my room and the nurse gave me dilaudid through an iv at that moment my heart began to race up to 185 and my vision became blurred. I was then given meds to help bring doen the heart rate and moved to the cardiology floor. I was monitored and the lowest my heart came to was 98bpm. Since then I have been checking my bpm on an app on my phone and it is always between 87-100 when at rest. Walking around brings ot up to 145 amd cleaning does the same. I had tests done after my episode at the hospital and they told me everything looked fine. Ekg was normal and ultrasound and bp was fine. They don't know what is causing my tachycardia and tell me that my numbers are within range. I honestly don't know what to do. I have a consultation set up with a cardiologist this week and hopefulky he can help. I personally think it's my weight, because dikaudid should have left my sistem by now and surgery was a month ago. What do you all think? Has anyone had a similar problem? How did you bring your heart rate down? I want to lose weight and see if that changes but I will have to consult with the doctor first.

hi and welcome. I posted earlier but I had to log in. hate that. sadly weight is always there, especially when it is to do with the ticker and associated bits!!! the dilute would have gone, for sure. sometimes we range differently-I get tachy from time to time, however if your activity levels have been less, as yours would with surgery then activity might be just giving the old ticker some jipp!! (a hard time) good move with the consult. I reckon a complete check up is the way too go. how are ya cholesterol / lipid levels? important stuff. keep well. and post when ya can. others will pop in.
