I am a 31 year old female. 2 months ago I was diagnosed with intermittent symptomatic PVCs. I also have MVP and a high heart rate. Resting bpm 92 or over 100 depending on what I'm doing or how anxious I am. Cardiologist did an EKG and saw a couple PVCs and said they were benign. She did a 24 hour holter and said I had a couple PVCS. During the holter I was on Atenolol (beta blocker) because she thought that was calm my anxiety. I had side effects on the medicine so I got off of it. A couple weeks ago I did a stress EKG, and I had a couple PVCs. Every time the dr would do a test she only would see 1 or 2 PVCs. I drank 3 beers a couple weeks ago and was getting A LOT more!!! Also, when I am super anxious and worried I will get a lot. Of course I forgot to tell her about those instances where my PVCS were happening more often and now I'm so worried that she didn't give me the proper diagnosis. She only saw a couple on the tests she gave me and I always seem to have a lot more when she's not testing me. I just checked my pulse right now and I had 6 PVCs in a minute. I don't know how many PVCs you would have to have for it to be considered dangerous. The cardiologist doesn't want to care for me anymore because she said I need to get my anxiety under control. She denied me further treatment!!!! When I talk to my mom about my health issues she gets angry with me since I don't 100% trust the dr. I don't even talk to her about my health issues anymore because she doesn't try to understand what I'm going through. I have noone to talk to about this and I just want to see if someone can relate with me!! I just want to be able to drink and have fun and not worry but I can't seem to get out of this funk! I have a hard time sleeping at night. When I was first diagnosed with having PVCs I couldn't sleep alone for over a month and would have panic attacks almost every night. Can someone relate with me!? I need reassurance that I will be okay. What makes a PVC benign? When are PVCs dangerous? Please help! Im going crazy and this is all I think about :(

Hi,

I have the same issue like you for more than 25 years now, and I can relate with you 100%. I have to tell you that your dr is right, PVCs will not kill you, but anxiety will bring you more and more PVCs. There is no magic pill that you can take that would make PVCs disappear, so you can live your life like you never had them, but if you find the way to cope with anxiety, live healthy, eat healthy, do enough physical activity, your PVCs will be suppressed, and you will in time become less and less bothered by them.
I know it is easier said than done, and you have to do all the hard work, but it can be done!
All the best!

Can I drink on PVCs? I want to have some drinks but Im worried. I am someone who drinks quite frequently and ever since I have been diagnosed which was 2 months ago I have drank 2 times. First time I had 2 beers and the next I had 3. I just want to be able to socially drink and not worry.

Try Magnesium supplement, that has helped MANY with pvc's. Propranolol has been a miracle drug for me, really shut the PVC machine way down and toned down my stress level way down. Lose the caffeine and exercise regularly as well.....

I dont drink caffeine? What about alcohol...? I know alcohol can trigger PVCs especially the day after. I dont know if having more PVCs is bad for you or not. I am not as worried as I was before but I still am

I tried atenolol beta blocker and wasnt a huge fan. I did like that my heart rate slowed in the 70s-80s range but I had side effects. I just started taking magnesium supplements. I don't see my heart dr for another year and Id like to keep it that way which is why i need to stop worrying so much. Im getting to the point of thinking 'if i die from this, i die from this'

The heart beats on average 100,000 times a day, and i was told by my cardiologist, and I've also read (dont remember where) that they dont get concerned unless you are having 10,000 or more PVC's a day. Thats over 400 a minute. So i wouldn't be concerned.

As far as drinking, a social beer or two isnt likely to hurt you, but i would keep it to a drink or two.

Good luck, it's hard, but it can be addressed successfully with hard work, professional help, and some introspection. You are 31, you are safe, everything will be ok. Work on yourself and get yourself out of this funk.
